Fire Marshal

The Fire Marshal fulfils a very unique mission in the fire department; he wears multiple hats of responsibility. First, the Fire Marshal is responsible for arson investigations. In this role, the fire marshal catches the bad guys who burn things illegally. In essence, he is the “Fire Police”. After that, the fire marshal is the lead fire inspector for the city. As inspector, the fire marshal is tasked with the job of ensuring building safety in public buildings through annual fire inspections. This means working with local business owners to ensure public safety all the while being mindful of economic development. Lastly, the fire marshal is responsible for public safety education. This is perhaps the most challenging of all the hats of responsibility that he wears. Public safety education entails education classes for children through the schools as well as for adults in classes such as the Citizen’s Fire Academy. The message in fire prevention is safety in our daily lives. The fire marshal’s job is often a misunderstood and thankless one. The fire marshal is often an unsung hero serving behind the scenes striving to maintain public safety and to save lives.
The Fire Marshal’s office is committed to protecting the citizens of Fate and their property. This is accomplished through fire prevention, education, code enforcement, regulation, investigation and law enforcement. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions you may have regarding any fire or safety related issues.
